Westchester Cup Results- 2013 Audi International Polo Series

On Sunday, July 28th, I captained the USA team against England in the Westchester Cup at Guards Polo Club.  After 16 years of being played in the USA, we were excited to return the series to the UK, where thousands of people came out to watch the match. The game was intense and filled with excitement. We were tied 11-11 and went to over-time.  Polito Pieres almost made a winning goal, but his shot was wide and England made the tie-breaking goal to take the Westchester Cup. All was not lost though, the game was well played and I couldn’t have been more proud of my team. After the game, HRH The Prince of Wales gave me the Donoso Trophy for The Best Player from the visiting team. The entire experience was thrilling, and the atmosphere was energetic, and I hope to go back to England to try to win the trophy again soon! Westchester Cup – 2013 Audi International Polo Series

On Sunday, July 28th, I will compete in the Westchester Cup, one of polo’s oldest and most prestigious cups. It was created in 1886 and is a three game match between the United States and England.   Today, it’s part of the Audi International Polo Series.  This year, I have the honor of representing the USA as captain of the Equus & Co. USA Team as we take on the Audi England team and their captain, Luke Tomlinson. This year’s match will be held at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park. What I love most about this match is the history and friendly rivalry behind it. To me, it’s an honor to be able to say I am playing in the same tournament the “Big Four” once played in, in 1909! The last time the match was played was in 2009 at the Palm Beach International Polo Club. I had the privilege of being on the USA team back then as well, but after a tough game, England took home the trophy. After 16 years of the Westchester Cup being played in the states, it’s time to back to England and win the match! Prince William, Prince Henry and I looking at polo’s most prestigious trophy, the Westchester Cup! Who will take it home this year? A picture of the Audi England Captain, Luke Tomlinson, and I. The Fondation Polo Challenge

Last weekend I had the honor of captaining the US team in The Foundation Polo Challenge benefitting Prince William and Prince Harry’s charity. I’ve played with Prince William and Prince Harry a few times before but it’s always great to see them in the States. Check out some of the interviews I was I did surrounding the match below. I will be playing in Santa Barbara for the next month and look forward to competing in the Silver Cup! NBC Nightly News CBS...

Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic This Sunday

Prince Harry at 2009 Veuve Clicquot Classic. Another exciting event is just around the corner as Nic begins to gear up for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic this Sunday in New York. Governors Island will again be the host to this event expected to once again draw a large crowd. Both excited and honored to be captaining Prince Harry’s team, Senteble, Nic hopes to repeat last year’s victory as he takes on Nacho Figueras. Nic is even more thrilled to be taking part in the charity that will benefit from the Classic. American Friends of Sentebale is a charity founded by Prince Harry of Wales and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. The organization and its founders are committed to transforming the lives of Lesotho’s orphans and at-risk children. Lesotho lies within South Africa, making it the only country completed surrounded by another. These children are victims to poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic that has been devastating their country. To find out more about this worthwhile cause visit their website at http://www.sentebale.org. Tomorrow morning Nic will be appearing on Fox 5 Good Day New York to not only discuss his career but how amped he is for...

2010 Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

It’s time to enjoy one of New York’s most unique events – the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic.  2010 marks the third annual event, and it will again be held at New York’s historic Governors Island on June 27, 2010. Honored to be a part of this immensely worthwhile event, Nic will be captaining Prince Harry’s charity team, Sentebale, and squaring off against fellow polo-player-slash-model Nacho Figueras and his Black Watch team.  Once again, the star-studded social event will benefit American Friends of Sentebale. Last year, the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic drew more than 6,000 public spectators and VIP guests. Several of the famous celebrities included – Madonna, Kate Hudson, Marc Jacobs, Chloe Sevigny, Donna Karan, LL Cool J, Rachel Roy, Lucy Sykes, Hilary Rhoda and Alex...
