Chef Dave Martin to Cater to the Polo Crowd

After the 3rd Annual Charity Polo Classic, which benefits one of my favorite charities, Rally for Kids, my friend is hosting a dinner party at his private estate in the Hamptons. It will be a great way to cap off the day – surrounded by my friends and some of the guys I play polo with. This amazing company, Kitchit, was   kind enough to hook me up with Chef Dave Martin, who will be cooking for everyone.  I  recognized Chef Dave from the first season of Bravo’s Top Chef, but he has since published  several cookbooks and launched his own line of Flavor Quest rubs and sauces.  I got a peek  at the menu and I’ll be sure to post some shots of my favorite dishes from the evening! If you’re having a party, have Kitchit bring the chef to you.  Kitchit connects consumers   directly with top-tier professional chefs who create everything from world-class gastronomic adventures to casual dinner parties.  To learn more about Kitchit click HERE. Hamptons-bound: The 3rd Annual Charity Polo Classic

I am excited to be hosting the 3rd Annual Charity Polo Classic to benefit Rally for Kids with Cancer on July 7th in the Hamptons. This charity means a lot to me because it raises funds to help find a cure for pediatric cancer. It’s unimaginable having a child diagnosed with cancer, but it happens every day. I’m thrilled to be involved in such a worthy cause. I appreciate the support of the people in the Hamptons and around the world who join me in making this event more successful than last year. The Nic Roldan Elite Saddle

After spending years in saddles that poorly fit my horses, I finally did something about it. I am excited to introduce the Nic Roldan Elite Saddle, which is designed to be the best fitting, best performing polo saddle ever made or ever conceived of. The team that created this is made of saddle makers, saddle fitters, chiropractors and veterinarians, all working together to help create one saddle that would help the horse perform at peak during the game as well as recover fastest afterwards. As polo has gotten more competitive and polo players have gotten better in the last 40 years, we keep pushing the envelope asking more and more of ourselves, our horses and our equipment. One of the reactions is the movement of our saddles forward, off the horses backs and on top of thehorses shoulders. This gives us a slight advantage but seriously affects ourhorses ability to perform. So I needed a saddle that could move the player forward while still keeping the rider’s weight back on the loin and not interfering with the shoulder movement – which is so critical for the sideways movements in polo. My new saddle has a patented new tree, concept and panels that actually does this and has a revolutionary new, completely adjustable polo saddle that is crafted to fit the horse perfectly. The saddle places the rider 3 to 4 inches farther forward than a conventional saddle, giving the player the advantage without affection the horse’s performance. You can get the saddle exclusively at PoloGear at 3500 Fairlane Farms Road #15, Wellington, FL 33414....

Competing with the Dubai Polo Team in England

With polo season in Wellington now over, I’ve flown to England were I’ve been playing on the Dubai Polo Team. So far we are 2 and 1 after winning today which should hopefully put us in the semifinals of the Royal Windsor. The Al Habtoor Royal Windsor Cup Finals will be held Sunday, June 24 at Guards Polo Club and it’s the premier medium-goal tournament in England. I’ve been playing with Martin Valent, Rashid Albwardy, Sheikha Maitha al Maktoum and Ali Saeed Albwardy (who substituted for Sheikha Maitha al Maktoum in the first two games) at Dubai Polo Farm. Here are a few pictures from the event – I’ll let you know how it...

5th Annual St. Regis International Cup

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to travel to England to play in the 5th Annual St. Regis International Cup at Great Britain’s Cowdray Park Polo Club. I was playing with the very talented US team against England. It was a really competitive and exciting match and England won 11-10.5 by defending a 60-yard penalty in the closing seconds. Our team was filled with talent and I was honored to receive MVP of the game. It’s always a great experience to play in England and I’ve been enjoying my time...
