#Throwback Thursday, #TBT:
A few weeks ago I had a unique opportunity via the Aspen Valley Polo Club; I got to teach & play #polo with Buddhist monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery who took time out from their The Mystical Arts of Tibet tour to learn foot mallet polo & play arena polo with us. It truly was a magical & fun experience I was honoured to be a part of. The monks are dedicated to enlightening people by generating peace & wish everyone happiness, a sentiment I believe most of us would share. To read more about this unique experience please look at: myemail.constantcontact.com/Aspen-Valley-Polo-Club-Makes-History-Introducing-Polo-To-Drepung-Lose... or watch this Chukker TV special: www.chukkertv.com/specials/2016/8/3/drepung-loseling-monks

I recently was based at Cowdray Estate (www.cowdray.co.uk) for the UK High-Goal season where Lord & Lady Cowdray are great supports of the Dalai Lama & where indeed the estate prides itself on it’s holistic approach. Lady Cowdray has also compiled a lovely booklet of thought provoking quotes.

As in any sport #polo has some essentials which are non negotiable, of course good horses would be one however another is “Maté” & no true polo barn is complete without it. This traditional Argentine infusion drunk through a straw from a gourd is much more than simply a drink, it’s the social aspect that really counts for me: every day at the yard starts & ends with it, when making horse lists or working on team strategies maté will be drunk & it’s a form of sharing with everyone as one big team. #Polo101
