Saturday was my last day with Brooke USA in Guatemala & I got up early to go for a run around Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepequez followed by a coffee in the town square. It’s an amazing town full of beautiful old churches & surrounded by magical volcano mountains. We had one last breakfast together before all heading back to our homes, I had not been home since April. It had been a long week but an incredible one in which we covered over 3000Km & met some inspirational people. It was an amazing experience & fabulous to see the Brooke, Action For Working Horses and Donkeys work in action first hand & where the funds raised are being used & why.

Friday was our last day out in the field. The Brooke, Action For Working Horses and Donkeys have almost completed their work in this community we visited so went to visit one of their success stories “Don Roberto” he has been taught to shoe the local communities working animals & has really taken to this. You have to realise that he has to remodel a normal pair of pincers into hoof clippers for instance in order to do his work. It was great to see the work he did and again how amazing all the Brooke’s field staff are, caring, welcoming, professional, I’m very proud to be part of this organisation.

After that we had time to visit a near by waterfall which was awe inspiriting before embarking on the 7 plus hour drive back & a farewell dinner in Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepequez.
